NIH/NMA Travel Awards for Residents and Fellows Attending the National Medical Association’s (NMA) Annual Convention and Scientific Assembl
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) in conjunction with the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), and the Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Medical Association (NMA) are pleased to announce opportunities for travel awards to residents and fellows to attend the NMA’s Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly.
This year, the 114th Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly will take place in Detroit, Michigan from August 1 to August 5, 2015. The NIH Workshop on Career Development in Academic Medicine will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2015 and Sunday August 2, 2015.
The awards are intended for residents and fellows who are preparing for careers in research or academic medicine and especially those who are interested in research in disease areas that disproportionately impact the health of minorities and underserved communities.
ravel awardees (designated as NIH-NMA Fellows) receive complimentary registration, air travel ticket (economy), 5 days/4 nights’ hotel accommodations, and per diem for meals (minus the cost of meals during the NIH workshop). All award recipients are required to attend a special one and a half day NIH Workshop on Career Development in Academic Medicine. They are also encouraged to attend all NMA Convention and Scientific Assembly functions.
